Learning Objectives

  • Describe the biological effects of BNP
  • Apply NT pro-BNP in clinical assessment, statistical predictive values, likelihood ratios and risk stratification of congestive heart failure (CHF)
  • Review how natriuretic proteins are used in the evaluation and management of dyspnea and CHF
  • Differentiate between BNP and NT proBNP tests
  • Describe the implementation of NT proBNP testing in clinical practice
