THR Journal Article Review - Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Insertion in Adult Patients with Difficult Intravenous Access: A Systematic Review
This scholarly article review with post-test is designed to enhance nurses’ ability to identify adult patients with difficult intravenous access (DIVA), improve their use of evidence‑based assessment instruments, and enhance their application of validated clinical practice guidelines and escalation pathways. By strengthening competency in DIVA recognition, decision‑making, and escalation strategies, the activity aims to reduce multiple failed PIVC attempts, decrease patient harm and discomfort, and improve first‑attempt success and overall vascular access outcomes.
