THR Journal Article Review - Patient Perception of Fall Risk in the Acute Care Setting

This scholarly article review is designed to improve nurses’ competence in assessing and addressing patients’ perceptions of fall risk as part of a comprehensive fall prevention strategy. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how patient beliefs, confidence levels, and previous fall experiences influence adherence to recommended safety measures. The activity will provide evidence-based approaches to integrating patient-centered communication and individualized education into routine fall prevention practices. By bridging the gap between objective fall risk assessments and patients’ subjective perceptions of risk, nurses can increase patient engagement in fall-prevention behaviors, promote adherence to safety interventions, and strengthen collaborative care planning.
