THPG Risk Management Conference 2023 - Board Investigations Update / Surviving a Board Deposition
Target Audience
This online educational enduring material is designed for Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) physicians. We also invite THPG physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses to take this course. Its purpose is based on the need to address risk and legal issues that primary care providers see on a regular basis.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the physician’s responsibility in supervising an APP and how an attorney doing a deposition might approach the scenario where the standard of supervision is not met
- Describe the TMB investigation process into a provider’s practice or reported event
- Identify the most common issues that result in a complaint to the respective board
- Explain the optimal approach to managing the investigation and response to a board complaint
- Review, identify and adjust professionalism, documentation and medical practice to reduce the legal and ethical risks of events that could lead to a board complaint
