Screening and Intervention for Mental Health Disorders and Substance Use and Misuse in the Acute Trauma Patient: Best Practice Guidelines from the American College of Surgeons
This online enduring activity is designed to improve clinicians’ knowledge and competence related to evidence‑based screening and intervention for mental health disorders and substance use in acute trauma patients. Trauma staff will gain the skills needed to implement standardized, validated screening tools, apply brief interventions, and follow appropriate referral pathways that are currently underutilized in most trauma centers. Ultimately, the activity is intended to foster more consistent, high quality, evidence-based care that supports early identification, intervention, and recovery for trauma patients with mental health and substance use needs.
