THAMH Trauma Grand Rounds - Current Management of Patients with a Hip Fracture
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for all physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients. We also invite clinical staff to take this course. Its purpose is to address the fact that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Summarize the epidemiology of hip fractures and the importance of multidisciplinary care
- Identify the optimal timing for surgical repair of a hip fracture to improve patient outcomes
- Recognize the importance of current evidence and application of guidelines to hip fracture care
- Appreciate common postoperative medical complications associated with hip fracture surgery and apply risk reduction strategies
