THAMH Trauma Grand Rounds - Alcohol Withdrawal

Target Audience

This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for all physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients.  We also invite clinical staff to take this course.  Its purpose is to address the fact that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma care.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Review the epidemiology of alcohol withdrawal syndrome
  • List tools used to predict development of severe/complicated alcohol withdrawal syndrome
  • Describe appropriate clinical monitoring during treatment
  • State guideline specific pharmacologic treatment dosing and medications for AWS
  • Incorporate medication assisted treatment (MAT) into clinical practice
