THAM Trauma Grand Rounds - Trauma Informed Spiritual Care: A Chaplain's Perspective
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for all physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients. We also invite clinical staff to take this course. Its purpose is to address the fact that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Define the concept, pervasiveness and impact of trauma in the trajectory of life
- Describe some primary theological concepts and constructs in trauma care, resilience and recovery
- Analyze the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study and the implications for trauma-informed practice and institutes
- Describe the core principles, guidelines and best practices of trauma-informed care
- Review chaplain’s role and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of trauma informed care
- Discuss how the interprofessional healthcare team can integrate trauma-informed care into spiritual care
