Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients. We also invite pharmacists, paramedics, registered dietitians, social workers and therapists to attend.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Recognize that severity of injury to an infant is not equivalent to risk to an infant
- Apply evidenced based recommendations to appropriately evaluate an infant with injury
- Discuss increasing morbidity and mortality with recurrent episodes of child physical abuse
- Propose an approach to the physical exam that maximize opportunities to identify injury
- Discuss how the BEST Timeout Model can be used to improve ethical decision-making and reduce the impact of bias among the interprofessional healthcare team when considering reporting cases to Child Protective Services
