Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for all physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients. We also invite clinical staff to take this course. Its purpose is to address the fact that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Review impact of hypothermia on trauma patients
- Recognize the difference between trauma patients and medicine patients
- Review pathophysiology of hypothermia
- Discuss various types of rewarming
- Review cold injury types and treatment
- Examine that trauma patients easily become hypothermic and start early measures to correct it
