THR Palliative Care Lunch N Learn - The Dialysis Debate

Target Audience

This online educational enduring material is designed for physicians.  We also invite nurses, clinical staff and social workers to take this course. Its purpose is to address the fact that there is a need to address tools and strategies for improved patient care when palliative care services are being utilized. There is a need to improve the well-being of those with chronic and progressive diseases.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze current hemodialysis patient statistics
  • Determine patient mortality from dialysis versus medical management based on key studies
  • Differentiate patients who would benefit from conservative kidney management
  • Create and apply treatment plan for withdrawal of dialysis
