THD OB/GYN Grand Rounds - Nerve Blockade for Abdominal Surgery: Where Have we Been & Where is it Going

Target Audience

This online educational enduring material is designed for OB/GYN physicians.  We also invite nurses to take this course.  Its purpose is for physicians to become more knowledgeable about the obstetrical/gynecological diseases and conditions and more efficient in the evaluation and management of concerns unique to their patients.  

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the anatomy of the abdominal wall and the physiology of pain from abdominal surgery
  • Review the history of nerve blockade for abdominal surgery and how efficacy has improved
  • Discuss newer anesthetic nerve block techniques and when they are effective
