  • Recognize why “feeding intolerance” is a subjective diagnosis
  • Interpret common bedside signs (gastric residual volume, distension, emesis, stool patterns, cardiorespiratory events) with appropriate skepticism as it relates to feeding intolerance
  • Describe the negative effects of delaying, withholding, interrupting, or limiting enteral feedings to infants who will never develop pathologic feeding intolerance
  • Recognize that an interprofessional team approach to care is required for the development of specific, reliable, and objective biomarkers of feeding intolerance
