THD NICU Grand Rounds - Point-of-Care Ultrasound in the NICU: Shifting Paradigms in Clinical Diagnosis and Care
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses in neonatology, pediatrics and obstetrics. We also invited respiratory therapists to take this course. Its purpose is to address the need to provide the latest recommendations of neonatal care and identify best practices for neonatal intensive care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Improve diagnostic accuracy for neonatal conditions through collaborative ultrasound assessments among the healthcare team
- Provide real-time evaluations of critical conditions and treatment responses, emphasizing the role of interprofessional communication in patient management
- Safely assist in procedures like line placements and drainage, while clarifying the roles and responsibilities of each team member during these interventions
- Develop bedside ultrasound skills and knowledge among NICU staff, promoting understanding of the scopes of practice of different disciplines in providing quality patient care
