THD NICU Grand Rounds - Concepts and Controversies in Umbilical Cord Management
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses in neonatology, pediatrics and obstetrics. We also invited respiratory therapists to take this course. Its purpose is to address the need to provide the latest recommendations of neonatal care and identify best practices for neonatal intensive care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss concerns regarding delayed cord clamping
- Review the evidence for umbilical cord milking
- Review the evidence for resuscitation with an intact cord
- Evaluate adherence to a delayed cord clamping protocol for preterm births in the first two years after its introduction, perform a quality improvement assessment and determine neonatal outcomes associated with protocol implementation and adherence
