Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses. We also invite healthcare professionals to take this course. Its purpose is to facilitate the process of making ethical decisions in clinical practice, teaching and medical research system and hospital standards for care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Provide a historical overview demonstrating the absence of infectious diseases in the development of bioethics.
- Describe 3 ethical considerations unique to infectious diseases.
- Review the strengths and weaknesses of applying the traditional 4 principles by Beauchamp and Childress to these 3 considerations.
- Identify opportunities to implement these transdisciplinary ethical considerations into clinical decision making to enhance patient care
