THD Psychiatry Grand Rounds - No More Whack-a-Mole: Development, Implementation and Results of an Integrated Treatment Approach for PTSD and Eating Disorders in the Residential Setting

Target Audience

This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, recreational therapists, mental health technicians, clergy, administrators and other interested persons.  Its purpose is to address behavioral health and psychiatric issues/treatments.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the necessity of the inter-professional team approach when treating PTSD symptoms in the eating disorder patient population
  • Explain the basic tenets of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and how it can be adapted to traumatized ED patients
  • Recognize three key psychoeducation teaching points to help patients understand the link between their eating disorder and trauma reactions 
  • Identify new results indicating that both PTSD symptoms and ED symptoms may be successfully treated together in a residential treatment program
