THD NICU Grand Rounds - Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses in neonatology, pediatrics and obstetrics. We also invited respiratory therapists to take this course. Its purpose is to address the need to provide the latest recommendations of neonatal care and identify best practices for neonatal intensive care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the collaborative role between pediatricians and orthopedic surgeons in screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip, including the updated guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics for screening recommendations
- Outline the risk factors for developmental dysplasia of the hip, those that require further imaging and the optimal timing for screening
- Review the outcomes of nonoperative and operative treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip to allow for improved counseling of families prior to referral
