THAMH Trauma Grand Rounds - Trauma and Anticoagulants: Navigating the Maze of Reversal Agents
Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for all physicians and nurses involved in the care of trauma patients. We also invite clinical staff to take this course. Its purpose is to address the fact that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma care.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the pharmacokinetics and mechanism of action for commonly used anticoagulants
- Apply evidence-based medicine and guideline recommendations when contemplating anticoagulant reversal
- Identify inclusion and exclusion criteria for reversal agent usage
- Accurately select reversal agent based on oral anticoagulant use
- Review how multidisciplinary team members can collaborate to ensure safe and effective use of reversal agents
