Target Audience
This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for designed for psychiatrists, nurses and social workers. We also invite psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, recreational therapists, mental health technicians, clergy and administrators to take this course. Its purpose is to address the need for behavioral health and psychiatric issues/treatments.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the “coming out process” and the implications for LGBTQ adolescents and their families
- Describe the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation
- Recognize at-risk behaviors, such as suicide, substance abuse, isolation and homelessness
- Explain and adopt role of the multidisciplinary healthcare team in providing a safe space and in affirming the diversity of the LGBTQ community
