THP Neonatal Grand Rounds - Developmental Medicine in the NICU and Beyond

Target Audience

This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses in neonatology, pediatrics and obstetrics.  We also invite respiratory therapists and allied health professionals to take this course.  Its purpose is to address the need for the latest recommendations of neonatal care and identify best practices for neonatal intensive care.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Identify types of infants in the NICU who are at high risk for developmental concerns
  • Discuss Developmental Medicine’s criteria for determining readiness for evaluations of NICU babies
  • Describe the process for referral of babies from the hospital
  • Identity types of neurodevelopmental assessments used in the NICU and after graduation
  • Recognize multidisciplinary team members who collaborate with and contribute developmental care of NICU babies and graduates
  • Describe examples of high-risk infants and possible developmental outcomes seen with longitudinal follow up
