THD Internal Medicine Grand Rounds - Cirrhosis in Crisis: Preventing and Managing Hospital Admissions

Target Audience

This online educational enduring material is designed for physicians.  We also invite clinical staff to take the course. Its purpose is to provide for the continuous educational need of the physicians to become more knowledgeable about the diseases in internal medicine subspecialties and become more efficient in the evaluation and management of concerns unique to their patients. 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize how chronic liver disease and cirrhosis contribute to the burden on the health care system
  • Describe the most common causes and complications leading to hospitalization in patients with cirrhosis
  • Recognize predictors of readmission in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis
  • Identify opportunities for system level improvements that can enhance quality of care and reduce health care utilization
