This online interprofessional enduring material is designed for physicians and nurses caring for cardiovascular patients. We also invite physician assistants, pharmacists, EMS, physical therapists and other allied health professionals to take this course. Its purpose is to address the need for knowledge and competence in regard to the latest cardiovascular treatment recommendations and considerations.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the basics of coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring and angiography (CCTA) in assessing cardiovascular risk and evaluating chest pain
- Identify clinical indications and patient selection, including the indications for CAC scoring and CCTA in asymptomatic and symptomatic patients and understand patient selection criteria based on the pretest probability of CAD
- Optimize patient preparation for imaging, including pre-imaging requirements and contraindications to CCTA
- Interpret coronary calcium scores to explain the Agatston score and its clinical significance in ASCVD risk stratification and management
- Discuss the role of CCTA in detecting the CAD in patients with stable or acute chest pain
- Review CT-FFR and its integration with CCTA
