15th Annual Critical Care Conference - Advanced Liver Failure: Focus on Hepatorenal Syndrome

Target Audience

This online interprofessional enduring material is designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and dieticians involved in the care of critical care patients.  We also invite physician assistants and other healthcare professionals to take this course.  Its purpose is to improve patient outcomes in the ICU and educate the healthcare team on new and recent evidence-based findings in critical care.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the pathophysiology, clinical features and multidisciplinary healthcare team approach to management of decompensated cirrhosis, including acute-on-chronic liver failure
  • Review the pathophysiology and updated diagnostic criteria of hepatorenal syndrome – acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI)
  • Evaluate the role and efficacy of the only FDA-approved treatment for HRS-AKI
  • Discuss current management strategies, patient selection, treatment options and risk-benefit concerns for patients with HRS-AKI
