THAMH Trauma Grand Rounds - Delirium in the Older Adult Patient

Target Audience

This online interprofessional educational enduring material is designed all physicians and clinical staff involved in the care of trauma patients. Its purpose is to address the need that there are rapidly changing technologies, procedures, and pharmacology agents in dealing with trauma in the geriatric population.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this online enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the clinical features and causes of delirium
  • Identify the association between pre-existing dementia and the occurrence of delirium
  • Review the assessment instruments for delirium
  • Discuss management strategies of delirium based on current evidence
  • Recognize the value of a multi-disciplinary approach to help in the prevention and reduction of delirium
